You and your service dog are a team. Time to train like one. Black Magic Dog Training is dedicated to helping the disabled community of the greater Seattle area by empowering individuals and providing affordable and effective private lesson options for the owner-trained service dog.
How The Program Works
The Black Magic Dog Training service dog program is a bring-your-own-dog program. Humans must complete a consultation to establish tasks and goals, and dogs must be evaluated in person prior to acceptance into the program to assess for physical and behavioral soundness and working ability. For handlers who are seeking a new service dog, accommodations can be made to screen potential puppies and shelter/rescue dogs according to the handler’s goals.
After passing evaluation, you will receive a FREE copy of the Black Magic Service Dog Training book and the accompanying Black Magic Service Dog Workbook. These two tools will be your companion guide in your handler-training journey.
Your service dog package comes with a start of 10 in-person 1-hour lessons to help guide you through your handler-training journey, and will cover tasks, public access, and coach you through common pitfalls and proofing.
The Black Magic Service Dog Certification
At the end of your lessons, dogs may test for service dog certification. This is an in-house certification which, if passed, will list the dog as a graduated student and “official” service dog. The certification test includes a public access test in various environments and situations, a task reliability test, and a brief handler exam to show handler education.
Upon passing your certification evaluation, you will receive a printed certificate of completion, an ID card for your dog, and a Black Magic Dog Training service dog patch. After passing, Black Magic Dog Training will verify authenticity of your service dog to airlines and any businesses that may reach out to us.
Certification lasts one year from date passed and must be re-taken annually to maintain these benefits.
